Hi neighbor! Many of you know me, I have lived in Oceanside, District 4 for nearly 30 years, raising our three kids with my husband Dirk. We started and operate our small businesses here. I am invested in Oceanside!
Jane's Background:
+ Saved Guajome Regional Park from a 4 lane freeway that would take out resident homes and working farms, and cut off wildlife corridors for less than 3 min of improved service level, returning $6 Million to our road budget.
+ Saving the rezoning of our statewide significant farmland to sprawl development with a Referendum on this November ballot. This development puts current and future residents at risk without adequate traffic an evacuation plans.
+ Selected to help create our Climate Action Element promoting its final approval for SMART housing near infrastructure vs. the more sprawl developments.
+ Selected to Help create and Economic Development Element to ensure compatibility with our General Plan and Climate Action Plan.
+ Worked with developers on projects for infill land to create dense housing that is compatible the neighborhoods and include solar, water catchment, ingress and egress options to minimize traffic impacts, by transportation corridors.
+ Selected for the Downtown Redevelopment Steering Committee because of my knowledge and involvement to help steer our downtown creating a traffic plan with traffic circles vs a drag strip, more SMART housing, urban forestry, a more walkable City Streets concept, and economic development for the downtown.
+ Selected to participate in our Local Coastal Plan evaluation and update including working with experts on global warming impacts to coastal cities and mitigations. Pending Coastal Commission's approval.
+ Saved neighborhoods and commuters from distracted driving, traffic hazards and light pollution from huge, 24/7 digital billboards on Hwys 78 & 76 when we were told "its a done deal".
+ Saved the State mandated ADU's/granny flats from becoming short term rentals (STR's) by ensuring that any new units built can only be long term housing (+30 days) to comply with the state mandates and Increase our housing stock that is being decimated by STR's.
+ Saved our citizen watch-dogs - our elected City Clerk and Treasurer, from appointments by the current council majority, so these 2 important areas, our money and our records, have accountability to us the citizens!
+ President of the coastal neighborhood association for 4 years, and as a Downtown Ambassador for 5 years, I have supported important projects, events and activities to promote Oceanside and build a richer culture for business, residents and visitors!
+ Helping to prepare meals for seniors and homeless at the Oceanside Kitchen Collaborative at El Corazon, and am member of Friends of El Corazon, supporting the El Corazon master plan for a park and sports complex,
+ Worked for 25 years as a management consultant optimizing performances in businesses and government organizations on a global scale.
+Taught at UCSD Lean Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain Management and created the premier Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt program. Taught Operations Management at SDSU extension program.
+ My education includes a Bachelors in Business, Masters in Business Administration, Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Master Blackbelt, certified in Critical Thinking Processes, and in Operations Resource Management. I believe in lifelong learning taking classes in Real Estate, French, & Gardening.
